3 Things You Need To Do To Keep Weight Off After Your Diet Is Over

Everybody, who has been on a diet, knows that keeping weight off after the diet is over is a real challenge. There are three things you need to know and do to continue staying in shape.

First, do not spend to too long on any diet. If you do, you might experience metabolic slowdown. It is better to take a break for a week or two and then start a new round. Dieters think that, by temporarily stopping a diet, they would lose less weight. However, you will actually lose more weight and stay healthy by taking a break and then restarting.

Second, if you just go back to the way you were eating before the diet, you will just go back to the weight you were. It is very important to permanently change your eating habits: stop eating late at night, restrict sweet, salty and fatty foods, eat more raw vegetables, eat protein frequently, etc.

Third, it is not important if you count calories or not, but it is important to keep track of fat intake. The reason for this is that fats have 9 calories per gram and are easily hidden so it very easy to take in lots more calories than you mean to from 'hidden' fat.

Fourth, it is good if you incorporate on or two meals of your choice per week as they are a great structured way to treating yourself so that you feel much more committed to eating healthy the rest of the time.

Fifth, stick with your exercise. It is known that exercise is the main indicator of whether an individual will regain weight or not. Do at least two exercise sessions per week or jog every day for 30 minutes. Exercising in the evening can also help you to stay away from your fridge. Dancing is also considered a great physical activity that makes you want to stay slim.

Any diet must have the beginning and the end. You cannot permanently be on a diet - it is emotionally exhausting. Instead, plan your weight loss effort very carefully. When on a diet many people struggle to fight cravings and stop dieting because of that. Cravings come usually when you have just started dieting and you have to prepare yourself for them. It makes sense to work on changing your eating habits and then gradually get to the point where you feel that a strict diet can give you that necessary push in the right direction.
